Plato :
"In democracy there's no compulsion, so there's a profusion of opinions. But that means that the best aren't forced to rule, so democracies get worthless politicians who just pretend to be the people's friends."

The Fiddle And The Drum
The song is early Joni Mitchell.
This version is a cover by the band "A Perfect Circle" from the eMOTIVe album.
While the guys in the band may be making a statement about war and politics (and without a doubt Joni Mitchell was trying to speak her mind about Vietnam when she wrote this song) ...
I'm just posting it here for you to come to your own conclusions.
As for me, I just happen to enjoy the contrast of audio harmony and visual dissonance.

Belief Vs. Knowledge
That's really the whole point of this blog.
It's important to be able to sepperate what we believe from what we know and be able to tell the difference.
Just in case you aren't familliar with Plato's Analogy of the Divided Line from his work Republic, I've included an illustration on this blog. Take a second and look it over.
It gives order to our cognative process.
4. Imagination
3. Belief
2. Thinking
1. Knowing
For those of you slower than most; It's better to Believe than Imagine, It's better to Think rather than just Believe and it's better to Know than to Think.
Blogs and Podcasts are rampant with opinion - That's just fine.
But...
What if we took it up to the next level.
What if we could fill the blogosphere, talk radio, podcasts and editorials with thinking and reasoning rather than just imagination and belief...
At least we could point out that all of the Believers don't actually Know anything.
One thing I will not attempt to change with my blog is the amount of Snipe, Snark, Sarcasm and Sillyness involved in public comment.
I'm going to point out the stupid stuff that happens in my everyday - and laugh at it as much as possible.
Just because it's fun.
And at the end of the day, the majority of blogs are really just there to amuse the blogger.
If you want to bring your brain and come play in my sandbox...there's plenty of room.
Just remember that we play on the higher level here.
Belief is fine, as long as you are prepared to upgrade to Thought.
And for those that Know a thing or two...Teachers are always welcome.
